BIKESDROP RIDER PRIVACY POLICY
Last updated: 24 August 2026
1. INTRODUCTION
This Privacy Policy explains how BikesDrop Business and Logistics Ltd ("BikesDrop", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information about you when you use the BikesDrop Business app as a delivery rider ("Rider", "you"). This Policy applies specifically to the rider side of the BikesDrop Business app. It should be read together with our Terms & Conditions and Account Deletion Terms.
By registering as a rider and using the app, you agree to the collection and use of your information as described in this Policy.
2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
2.1 Information You Provide Directly
a. Account information: full name, phone number, email address, gender, and password (or third-party sign-in credentials via Google or Apple).
b. Identity verification: your Ghana Card number and photographs of the front and back of your Ghana Card, submitted for identity and eligibility verification.
c. Vehicle information: your vehicle type (bicycle, motorbike, car, or truck) and, where applicable, registration, roadworthy, or insurance documents.
d. Payout information: your mobile money number or bank account details, used to pay your earnings.
e. Profile photo: an optional photo you choose to upload for your rider profile.
f. Communications: messages you send through in-app chat with customers, merchants, or BikesDrop Support, and the content of any support tickets you raise.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
a. Location data: your real-time GPS location while you are online and available for jobs, and continuously during an active delivery, so we can match you with nearby requests, provide navigation, and share your live position with the customer and BikesDrop for safety and tracking purposes.
b. Delivery and trip data: pickup/drop-off locations, distances, delivery duration, accepted/declined/cancelled requests, and delivery type (pickup delivery, cargo, campus errand, or ride).
c. Earnings data: per-delivery fares, bonuses, wallet balance, and payout history.
d. Ratings and feedback: ratings and written feedback left about you by customers and merchants after completed deliveries.
e. Device and usage data: device model, operating system, app version, push notification tokens, and general usage patterns within the app (such as which screens you use), collected to operate and improve the Services.
2.3 Information From Third Parties
If you sign in using Google or Apple, we receive basic profile information (such as your name and email address) from that provider, in accordance with your settings with that provider.
3. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
We use the information described above to:
a. Verify your identity and eligibility to work as a rider on the Platform.
b. Match you with nearby delivery, cargo, errand, and ride requests.
c. Provide navigation, live tracking, and route information during deliveries.
d. Calculate and pay your earnings, including bonuses and incentives.
e. Enable communication between you, customers, merchants, and BikesDrop Support.
f. Send you notifications about new requests, order updates, account activity, and platform announcements.
g. Monitor and improve service quality, safety, and platform performance.
h. Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms & Conditions.
i. Comply with legal, tax, and regulatory obligations.
4. LOCATION DATA
Because location is central to how the Platform matches you with jobs and tracks deliveries, we collect your location:
a. Continuously while you are online and available for jobs, so nearby requests can be offered to you.
b. Continuously during an active delivery, so your route and progress can be shown to the customer and BikesDrop for tracking and safety purposes.
You can go offline at any time to stop being matched with new requests, which also stops routine location collection outside of any delivery already in progress. Location permission can also be managed through your device settings, though disabling it will prevent you from receiving or completing deliveries.
5. HOW WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in the following circumstances:
a. With customers and merchants: your name, profile photo, vehicle type, live location during an active delivery, and a masked phone number/in-app chat are shared with the customer or merchant for that specific order, so they can identify you and coordinate the delivery. Your real phone number is not revealed to customers or merchants.
b. With payment and payout providers: information necessary to process your earnings payouts, such as your mobile money or bank details.
c. With service providers: infrastructure, communications, and analytics providers (such as Firebase, SMS, and email delivery services) that help us operate the Platform, under contractual obligations to protect your data.
d. For legal reasons: where required to comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or a valid governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of BikesDrop, our users, or the public.
e. In a business transfer: if BikesDrop is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy or a policy offering at least equivalent protection.
6. DATA RETENTION
We retain your information for as long as your rider account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is handled in accordance with our Account Deletion Terms — generally, your account is deactivated and enters a 30-day grace period, after which your personal data is permanently deleted, other than a minimal, anonymized business record retained for legal, tax, and accounting compliance.
7. YOUR RIGHTS & CHOICES
Depending on applicable law, you may have the right to:
a. Access, correct, or update your personal information through your Profile settings in the app.
b. Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
c. Request deletion of your account and associated personal data, as described in our Account Deletion Terms.
d. Control notification and location permissions through your device settings.
e. Object to or restrict certain processing of your data, where applicable law provides for this.
To exercise these rights, contact BikesDrop Support through the app or using the contact details in Section 11.
8. DATA SECURITY
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures — including encrypted data transmission, access controls, and secure cloud infrastructure — to protect your information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. No system can be guaranteed completely secure, and we encourage you to keep your account credentials confidential and report any suspected unauthorized access immediately.
9. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
The rider side of BikesDrop Business is not intended for individuals under 18 years of age, in line with our eligibility requirements. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will take steps to delete it.
10. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
The app relies on third-party services to function, including mapping and navigation providers, cloud infrastructure and database services, push notification services, and SMS/email delivery providers. These providers process data only as necessary to provide their services to us and are bound by appropriate data protection obligations.
11. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by email where reasonably practicable. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy.
12. CONTACT US
